Urhan Bring 'Town To The Wire

A fine performance by Urhan in Cahermore was just not enough as Urhan went down by the bare minimum to the 'Town. Urhan will be disappointed to have come so close without success, but can have every reason to be happy with their performance, however, and with the work-rate and teamwork displayed.

Team: Sean Daly; Paddy Shea, Kieran O' Sullivan, Kevin O' Sullivan; Brian Healy, Mike Shea, PJ Cadogan; Daniel Dwyer, Enda Lowney; Brian Crowley, Concubhar Harrington; Ian O' Sullivan; Kevin Harrington, Gary Lowney, Finbarr Dwyer.

Sub: Martin O' Neill for Finbarr Dwyer.

Junior A's Lose In Ahiol

St. Oliver Plunketts 1-09 Urhan 0-07

Our Junior A's had a very disappointing outing in their South-West league game in Ahiol on Friday Night, losing by five points and seeing James Healy receive a straight red before the break. That the red card seemed harsh to all observers only added to the frustration. In truth Urhan never recovered. On the night, the better team won, and won well.

Urhan: Sean Daly; PJ Cadogan, Gary Hanley, Kieran O' Sullivan; Brian Healy, Mike Shea, Enda Lowney; James Healy, Daniel Dwyer; Brian Crowley, Concubhar Harrington, Finbarr Dwyer; Johnny Shea, Vinny Lehane, Martin O' Neill. Sub; Kevin Harrington for Martin O' Neill.

Adrigole 6-18 Urhan 2-07

An understrength Urhan side fought to the end in this Beara League tie against an excellent Adrigole team. Despite suffering badly early on, Urhan's spirit was to be commended and their work-rate never dropped. Down 5-10 to 0-2 at half-time, many young teams would have given up. Far from it, Urhan rallied hard and playing some excellent football they level-scored the second half.

Team:- Mike Power; Kieran O' Neill, Damien Power; Gavin Power, Colm Manning; Daniel Harrington, Finbarr Dwyer; Kevin Harrington, Oreon Pickett; Sean Dwyer, Jason Harrington.

Urhan 1-08 D. Ó Mathunas 2-06

Urhan had no points to show after their game yesterday against Mathunas, but there were lots of positives in defeat against a Mathunas side having their last run-out before their Championship starts next Sunday. Down five points at the break, and weeks behind in preparation, Urhan conceded a second goal immediately.

From there, though, we rallied hard and dominated the second half completely, reducing the seven-point margin down to the minimum at the whistle. Defeated on this occasion, but great heart to be taken on many fronts, notably another gutsy comeback.

Team: Martin McCarthy; Kieran O' Sullivan, DJ O' Shea, David O' Sullivan; Brian Healy, Mikey O' Shea, Kevin R. O' Sullivan; James Healy, Daniel Dwyer; Brian Crowley, Concubhar Harrington, Enda Lowney; Vinny Lehane, Sean Daly, Martin O' Neill.
