Urhan and Garnish couldn't be split today in a fine Beara Final. The teams will meet again next Saturday, the 17th Sept, at 5.30pm in Droum.

In a good physical battle Garnish quickly registered the first score from a free but Urhan soon responded with some very well taken scores from Vincent Lehane and Concubhur Harrington (two).

Garnish continued to fight hard, though, and never allowed the gap to become too much keeping firm pressure on in all quarters. The contest was tied again after eleven minutes when Cormac O' Neill converted a free after an earlier score from their corner forward, Paudie O' Sullivan.

As exchanges became firm inevitably a number of yellow cards were issued but the contest continued unyielding. Urhan managed to finish the half well with four more points through Ciaran O'Sullivan and Concubhar Harrington (three, two frees) sandwiching a further converted Garnish free. This opened up a comfortable half-time lead of three points with the elements to come in their favour for the second period.

HT Garnish 0-4 Urhan 0-7.

Urhan won the throw-up in the second half through captain James Healy who was immediately fouled. The resulting kick into the inside line failed to stick however and Garnish quickly attacked to begin the fight-back with a point. When the ball was again fed to the Garnish full forward, Tom Bowe, there was panic in the Urhan square. As the Garnish man burrowed forward he was brought to ground by a combination of players. The penalty was swiftly awarded but Cormac O' Neill failed to convert as he drove the ball wide. Urhan were left off the hook.

A number of short kick outs saw Urhan in further danger and the lead tumbled when Tom Bowe slotted over quickly followed by yet another free from Cormac O' Neill. Concubhar Harrington promptly stepped up to the plate for Urhan with excellent wind-assisted long range frees and soon Urhan restored the three-point lead after Concubhar Harrington scored the next four for Urhan interupted by a score from Garnish midfielder Joe Harrington.

Garnish now were on the back foot but never gave up the battle. They continued to work the ball up the field and fed their strong full forward, who began to exert more influence. Garnish also made a number of changes to further strengthen the cause.

Urhan now found it difficult to win primary possession and Garnish continued to drive at them. Garnish pushed into a one point lead near the death after three more frees along with a Tom Bowe point as Urhan began to cough up frees.

There was to be a further twist however as former county star, Ciaran O'Sullivan, who led by example throughout, sailed a beauty over from the wing to tie it up again with sixty-one minutes on the clock.

Urhan had a late opportunity to finish the tie but a rare miscue for Concubhar Harrington saw the ball drop harmlessly into the keepers arms. As Garnish tried to advance once more the referee called time on the contest.

The replay will be held in Castletown at 5.30pm Saturday next the 17th, with extra time if required.

It promises to be another riveting affair with neither side giving an inch.
