A strong first-half with the wind by Tadhg MacCárthaigh's set up a deserved win yesterday in this BCL tie. Urhan won plenty of possession and created plenty chances throughout but weren't as clinical as the hosts. and went down 1-10 to 0-06.

Having won the toss, MacCárthaigh's decided to take full advangae of the elements and notched up a point after only two minutes after a break from centrefield. A Kevin O' Driscoll free four minutes later increased the advantage followed by a fine goal from the restart as the same full-forward gathered in the corener powered acoss and slotted home from a tight angle.

Urhan were winning plenty ball and responded immediately with a fine Iain O' Sullivan point after strong running on the break from Brian Healy, but first-half scores would prove hard to come by against the gale, and the home side tacked on another couple before a Vinny Lehane free provided temporary relief on the quarter-hour mark.

From there to the break it was a matter of keeping scores to a minimum. Nevertheless the home side led 1-09 to 0-02 at the short whistle.

With nature on their side now, Urhan made a bright start and points from Concubhar Harrington, when set up by David McCarthy, and Vinny Laehane, after good work from Martin O' Neill and Sean O' Sullivan gave real hope.

Urhan began to dominate possession, but could only muster a long series of wides. Throughout the game Urhan  would have more shots at the posts than their hosts, though it's fair to say they could not match their control or composure. MacCárthaigh's notched what was to be their only score of the second half with thirteen to go and Urhan's chance had gone. Late points from Vinny Lehane and Sean O' Sullivan made the final score 0-06 to 1-10.

Urhan will be happy with their work-rate and will take some positives from the game but will be disapppointed that they could not be more competitive on the scoreboard.
