Urhan narrowly defeated by Canovee in U13 semi-final at St. Colum's

Just a single point separated Urhan and Canovee at the full time whistle at St. Colum’s on Sunday afternoon. It was a wonderful game of football, with both sides evenly matched and referee David Whyte allowed play to flow smoothly.

Urhan started the scoring with two fine points from Cathal O Sullivan despite playing against a strong wind; however Canovee hit back with a goal and a point. Urhan’s  Cian  Crowley finished a great move to the net to leave the score Urhan 1 -3 to 1-1 ahead but Canovee finished the half with four points without reply. HT Score 1-5 to 1-3.

Canovee started the second half with a point but Paudie O Leary Urhan Captain adding a point almost immediately for Urhan. Paudie was very unlucky to have a goal disallowed in the next attack. Driven on by excellent half backs Ciaran O Sullivan and Eamon O Shea, Urhan followed up with the next three points to go one point ahead. Then came the most decisive score of the game, when Canovee found the net, after a goal mouth scramble.  Despite intense pressure the Canovee backs held Urhan to only one point. The equaliser evaded Urhan even though they fought hard to the final whistle.

Urhan 1-8  Canovee 2 -6.
