It's never nice losing, but the Under-16's can be satisfied with lots of their play in Monday's 6-09 to 2-13 defeat to Gabriel Óg's.

This was a good, hard game that was as clean as it was hardly-fought. Kilmacabea fielded a physically strong team and in the first half Urhan struggled somewhat to impose their preferred style of football. Kilmacabea played put some great moves together in that first half and were the better side putting serious pressure on Urhan's rearguard. Thanks to disciplined defence, however, Urhan stayed in contention with Conor and Luke O' Sullivan to the fore and Cillian O' Shea putting on an impressive display of high fielding that would last the entire game.

Goals proved the difference at half-time as Urhan trailed 4-06 to 0-09.

With Seamus Lyons and Ciarán O' Sullivan putting in almighty shifts around the middle, Urhan roared back into the game from the resumption. Forwards were now getting more ball to work with and Philip O' Shea was a constant threat to the Leap outfit, even if they managed somehow to keep him away from the goal.

The last fifteen saw Urhan all over play with Kilmac encamped in their own half. Urhan's huge work-rate and attacking football yielded results on the board as they threw everything at their opponents.

In the end, though, it was not quite enough and the final whistle saw Kilmacabea victorious by two points after an admirable showing by both teams.

Final score: Kilmacabea 4-09 Urhan 2-13.

Team: Paudie O' Leary; Brendan Duggan, Kevin Elphick, Conor O' Sullivan; Luke O' Sullivan, Danny O' Neill, Cillian O' Shea; Seamus Lyons; Joseph O' Sullivan, Ciarán O' Sullivan, Donal Óg Harrington; Cathal O' Sullivan, Kevin O' Sullivan, Philip O' Shea.
